Bear with me; I’m going to vent a little. And in doing so, I think I will make all our lives easier. I’m counting down the top five things that drive me crazy relating to the home. And the winners are:
Number 5
Annoyance: Not being able to get the cap off a liter of soda. – I don’t get it, I was the one who put it on in the first place!
Solution: Trying using a rubber glove, you know, the gloves you wear while cleaning the house, for the perfect grip.
Number 4
Annoyance: The little pieces of dirt that are too small to make it into the dustpan. – UGH, why don’t they just design dustpans that can pick up all those tiny particles – HELLO!
Solution: Dampen a paper towel and wipe up the remaining fine dirt.
Number 3
Annoyance: Trying to get a duvet cover on a duvet. – Sometimes I literally work up a sweat. Really, it should be an Olympic sport.
Solution: Use those black and chrome office binder clips or clothespins to secure one side, then work your way down.
Number 2
Annoyance: Trying to build a piece of IKEA furniture and loosing pieces in the process. – How is it that you drop a screw in your living room and it ends up in the kitchen, under your fridge? Is that physics?
Solution: Before you start building, take long piece of duct tape and affix all your small screws and bolts to it.
and Number 1
Annoyance: I must admit this next one is rare but when it happens you will understand my pain. When a light bulb breaks off in the lamp socket. – I’m never really in the mood to get electrocuted or bleed to death or both.
Solution: Turn off and unplug the power source. Then take a potato and push it into the socket until firm. Turn to release the broken piece of the bulb.
It’s Wednesday, the day for venting, so let me know your household crazies and the way you fix them. Peace.
