Kitchens can be a difficult part of any home to decorate and add personality. But if you’re willing to “show your clutter” a little bit, I have an easy fix for you. The inside of your cabinets are filled with lots of colors and interesting objects. You get shine elements from glassware, bright colors from spice packaging, and texture with food items like grain and pasta. So if your kitchen is feeling a little boring and you want to add a little life, simply remove those cabinet doors or replace your cabinet with open shelving. It’s a stylish lower-cost solution to upgrade your kitchen without a major renovation. Plus, it will help you keep track of items that you never use or need (i.e. the Real Clutter!).
Try some of these ideas for adding class to your kitchen:
- Hang your utensils for easy access and great design
- Mix colorful or monochromatic vases in with your dishes
- Showcase your grains and pastas in plastic or glass containers
- Add a few charming unexpected accessories like toys and bookends
- Use a chalkboard to add life to a boring wall (Also serves as a good place to remind yourself of things you need to buy)
- Bring your pans out for display high above your sink or stove using racks or shelves
- Use your cookbooks as risers for dishes and accessories
- Add candles for both decorative lighting and design
My friends will all attest that I can’t stand CLUTTER. But if you can find a way to organize it, minimize it, shelve and display it… then, organized clutter = classy. I Dare You To Be Domestic!
