In true wedding style the soon-to-be bride and groom, Kisha and Chris, went cake testing this weekend. I wasn’t able to make it, one, because I’m eating healthy for the new year (remember?) and two, I’m not a big cake fan. If I must have cake, I only have eyes for red velvet or carrot cake. While the final selection for Chris and Kisha is unique in its flavor, I can only tell you that it will leave their guests feeling really good. I hear there may even be a little alcohol up in it. Above is all I can show at the moment of what their cake may end up looking like.
In my cake research I did learn some some money saving options when it comes to buying your wedding cake or any special occasion cake:
- The cost of the cake is based upon a per person price and the intricacies you request. So keep that in mind when planning.
- If you want a large cake, but have a low budget ask about using Styrofoam layers.
- To cut down on costs, get a smaller show cake and serve your guests from a not so fancy sheet cake. (So smart)
- Cupcakes are a trend that can be money saving, elegant and even baked at home.
- Buy a blank cake and have your florist decorate it with fresh flowers. (To save on man hours.)
