I have to start today's blog entry by saying TODAY IS A NEW DAY! In the words of Oprah, I feel like our country is having a paradigm shift in the way we think, act and see. I am proud and blessed to be experiencing it first-hand, although I could not make it home to DC for the celebration. The images and words which touched me so as I watched yesterday's Inaugural events had a big impact on the way I see the world. I am proud to be Human. Proud to be American. Proud to be Black. Proud to be Alive. Proud to be IN this moment.

With that said, let's get back to this wedding. When you help plan a wedding, you quickly discover that most brides have everything all planned out in their heads years before they ever get married—it’s the way the world works. I think it maybe starts at birth!
Below are the inspiration and color palette Kisha and Chris (Chris not so much) chose to base their wedding on. It’s warm, Autumn-esque, sophisticated, even regal. Warm tones and modern accents will dominate the décor, while maintaining simple lines and a less-is-more esthetic. Check it out:
We visited a fabric store that was closing down and got an amazing deal on very high-end fabrics. We will use this fabric to decorate the columns surrounding the ceremony area.
While on the topic of inspiration, we need your help. If you had to think of a theme for this wedding, what would you call it? I was thinking something like “Falling in Love?” Get it? We just need a few words that incorporate the colors, feeling and motif of the day. HELP!
Lastly, the next time you have to use an image to create a color palette for everything from a party theme to interior décor, visit Color Hunter. You simply type (cut and paste) the location of any image on the Web and the site delivers you a color palette of the image. So cool and a good place to start with any design project. I took an image that Kisha forwarded to me and derived this as the color palette. It doesn’t get easier than that!

“Orange you glad you came to our wedding?”
No? That was wack? I tried…:)
