Kisha and Chris’s Wedding: Venue and Date – Check

WORLD
A week back, Kisha and Chris were on the search for their wedding venue in Malibu, California, and I shared with you a few of the options.  Well, as the wedding gods would have it, they chose none of the ones I had featured.  Instead, they opted to get married on top of the world—literally.  Introducing The CocoPalm Restaurant in sunny Pomona, CA.
Kisha knew of this location from frequenting the establishment for holidays and other special occasions.  Little did she know one day she would have her own celebration on the very balcony she had been so very impressed with.  The CocoPalm Restaurant is a charming 50’s style Cuban and Spanish food restaurant known for its ambiance and views that overlook the San Gabriel Valley.

Once you book the venue, that means you’ve got the date!  Believe it or not, Chris and Kisha will be tying the knot on 7-11.  (July 11, 2009.  Get it… 7-11, the convenience store… I thought that was a little funny.  What a great theme for the bridesmaid and bachelor parties!)
The Knot magazine selected CocoPalm as “The Best For Weddings” for venues in the Inland Empire part of Los Angeles in their 2008 Best of Weddings edition.
Planning Tip: You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.  We received so many compliments on how pleasant we were as a group while booking the event, that we were able to get a few freebies thrown into the deal like:  free AV equipment, a chair upgrade and even a free suite for the bride to use to get ready the day of.  So to all you bridezillas out there, hold back just a little… at least until the venue is booked, and then go crazy.  Also don’t be afraid to ask for small upgrades—you’d be surprised.

With the venue locked, it’s now time to work a little DTBD magic.

And I wish everyone a HAPPY Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!  May we never forget.  Peace and Love – DJ
