It’s Recess Like Never Before

So Spring is almost here and that means Summer is just around the corner.  You know what that means! Time to sweat and get those bodies together.

A while back a friend mentioned I should try a fitness class called Recess.  The buzz was that it was like no other “boot camp” style workout.  I’d heard it kicks your butt, but most importantly, it’s super fun. How hard could a class called Recess really be? Well, I took the class on Saturday, and come Sunday morning…OMG. Everything hurt!  But in a good way.  I can honestly say I’ve never had had so much fun while working out.  What I found most impressive was founder and trainer Stephen Devenere’s approach to training—“have a great time!”  You know, like you did as a kid at recess.

The class pushes you on the competition factor, and when my hour was up I was breathing hard, feelin’ good and laughing my ass off. Recess Rocks!  Take a quick look:

My Saturday morning Recess Workout consisted of:

  • Hula-hoop warm up.  A great ab workout (who knew?)
  • Potato sack racing – My legs were burning.
  • Leap frog – My legs were screaming “NO MORE!”
  • Tug-o-war – Equaled full body exhaustion
  • Steal The Bacon – A great brain and reflex game
  • The Blob – Cardio, Cardio and more cardio
  • & much more.

The class was pretty packed, which made for even more fun and competition. How many times can I say fun in one posting? If you wanna jump start your workout program, you need to try one session of Recess.  You will be glad.  And if you REALLY wanna kick it off, Stephen offers a session called Detention. I can’t even imagine. Currently there are openings at the Burbank location at Verdugo Park.  Both classes are on Saturday.  Detention is at 8:30AM and Recess is at 10:00AM.

SPECIAL OFFER: Stephen is letting Dare To Be Domestic readers get their first Recess class free. Simply visit his website, sign up and enter “DTBD” next to your name in the name field. See you there this Saturday at 10AM. Sign up now!

If you can’t make it this weekend try another weekend. Visit fitnessisyourfriend.com and take a look at the schedule. I Dare You To Be Domestic!
