Meet Taryn and her Los Angeles apartment: Taryn, a good friend of mine, asked me a couple months back to help her transform her apartment into something a little more hip to match her fashion forward personality. Today, Taryn’s apartment is full of colorful accents that make her neutral contemporary furniture “pop.” (I hate using that word.) Splashes of color and unexpected accessories keep her place young, fresh and inviting. Notice the urban print window treatments. HOT! With a mix of high-end, vintage and Ikea finds her style is all her own. That’s what design is all about!

1. What’s your favorite room in your house? Why?
My favorite room is the living room. Since I travel for a living, it’s rare I get to spend time here. The large windows surround the space, and the abundance of light makes me feel like I’m on vacation.
2. What’s the proudest purchase or most expensive item in your home?
The Couches!! My delicious couches are marvelous to lounge on!
3. If you could choose anyone in the world to be roommates with, who would it be? Why?
Derrick Johnson. He’s fun and does a hell of a job cleaning the wood floors!
