Bleach Can Be A Biatch!

I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Clorox has a Splash-less bleach that makes me smile from ear to ear.  It has the same whitening power of the original formula, but has a thicker, smoother consistency as you pour. This allows for way less of those liquid bleach disasters!

The bottle looks pretty much the same but look for the words Splash-Less on the bottom of the label.  I did a load of whites last night and felt so at ease knowing no secret splashes of bleach would be taking up residency in my machine waiting for my favorite shirt.

In celebration of this splash-less wonder, I give to you some helpful tips that make working with bleach easy!

  • Sort whites and colors before arriving to your laundromat/laundry room.
  • If doing multiple loads of laundry, wash your whites last. This avoids bleach residue on or around the machine that may ruin other clothing.
  • Store colored clothing away while working with bleach.
  • Use ¾ cup of bleach for a standard washer, 1¼ for an extra large washer.
  • Add detergent first, then clothes. After machine has aggregated for 5 min add your diluted bleach. Adding diluted bleach after detergent has dissolved delivers a slightly brighter wash load. Who knew?
  • After washing clothing using bleach, rinse and wipe down machine with a rag and clean water
  • If you use a built-in bleach dispenser for bleach be sure to rinse and wipe hardware before next load
  • Be careful in public laundromats where you place/sort your clothes
  • Never mix bleach and ammonia as this will create harmful and dangerous fumes

And just to take you back a lil’, here’s a jingle that use to be my jam.  “Mama’s Got the magic” – you know you know the words.  LOL!  I Dare You To Be Domestic!
